Gold Cups Recipents 2013

The annual Gold Cup Recital sponsored by Nampa Musicale, an affiliate of the National Federation of Music Clubs, was held May 4, 2013 at the First United Presbyterian Church.
Robyn Wells McDonnell, Nampa Junior Festival chairwoman, reported that 788 music students earned points toward these cups by participating in the Junior Festival programs held in the fall and spring at Northwest Nazarene University and The College of Idaho. There were 39 music teachers and 55 volunteers involved in the event.
“This festival program is such a rewarding experience for kids, both in the sense that they get a tangible reward for their countless hours of practice and, more importantly, they get a chance to receive feedback from others,” McDonnell said. “It is a chance to evaluate progress and set goals, and to celebrate their achievement. It is important to our community that kids learn that music is an interactive occupation, and that society benefits from those who know how to work hard and ask themselves to strive for giving their best. Where else would you see that many students all dressed in their best clothes, coming with anxious looks and leaving with smiles on their faces knowing that they had given it their best efforts?”
